[ˈmem(ə)rē]
2. something remembered from the past; a recollection:

This photo popped up on Facebook today, Family and Cousins Connection to Russell County, and Wow! what memories it brought back. Such vivid memories. I always say if I would choose any person, now gone, to spend the day with, it would be my Granny Johnson. And another day in the beauty shop would be just grand.
When I was little, maybe 10, my Granny Johnson worked as the Shampoo Lady in the Beauty Shop in the back of Lohr’s. Yes, back then, it was called a Beauty Shop, not a Hair Salon. Elizabeth Counts was the Beautician, not Hairdresser, and Granny washed the hair, put on solutions, rinsed, combed out, etc. I would spend the night with my Granny a lot. Occasionally, I would go to work with her. I spent my day in the beauty shop and sometimes out in the shop with Lohr. I can still remember the layout of the store and the smell of the beauty shop.
Funny thought after this memory that made me tear up, today I have an appointment to have my hair changed. I am going silver or white. Getting rid of what natural color is left on the back of my head. I do have a backup plan. If I don’t like it, I am going to buzz it off to about 2 inches. That backup plan almost happened during this month with the hot weather. I am not scared of 2 inch hair, I have almost had that before and I have an advantage, I can grow hair like no one else, so I can do this. I might need to borrow some sheep shears to get through all this hair but I have complete confidence Gene can get most of it off and someone will clean it up.
