The new knee is 8 years old today. Not too new anymore but 60 years newer than the other one. I appreciate it every day. No regrets.
Today I wish for a new nose or for the old one to heal up fast. Genetics can get you no matter how healthy you are or how well you take care of yourself. Skin Cancer goes way back in my family and it continues to show its ugliness in my current family and on my body.
I see the dermatologist every 6 months. I wear sunscreen. I keep a close watch on my skin, even as it sags and wrinkles. Two weeks ago today, the dermatologist removed a spot on my leg. Something new, a soft tissue tumor, benign. How bad is it when you have those stitches taken out on the same day you are scheduled for surgery on your nose for a basal cell the doctor found in June.
This is the third surgery for basal cell and second on my nose. The first surgery on my nose was from between my eyes down half of my nose. No scar and I got rid of the wrinkles between my eyes. I had 4 stitches in my thigh last year for the second one. And Monday was this one. Wow! I was not expecting this. I was happy when the labs came back in an hour that I was all clear and he could close. I just had no idea how much of my nose he needed to close and repair. I look pretty scary, black eye, bruised and swollen face. Let’s hope this is the last surgery on my nose and I heal as well as the last time and don’t scare any small children.
There is melanoma all around me in my family so the doctor says it is not if but when it is my turn so I get checked regularly. If you don’t see a dermatologist regularly, get an appointment soon. All my children see a dermatologist.
