The Smoke Alarm

I have not set the smoke alarm off as much since the boys have grown up and I maybe don’t do as many things at the same time. Amazon Echo reminders help keep me on track.

At our house the boys, all of them, say we don’t need a dinner bell, we use the smoke alarm and sadly that is true. So true in fact that I had the security system folks come out one time because my smoke alarm was not going off as often and my cooking had not improved that much. He looked at me like I was crazy when I referred to it as the dinner bell. Then I told him I didn’t want to be on the front page of the paper with a story about my sophisticated system and burned up anyway because it was not working. So he checked and checked and found nothing wrong with the detectors and I said ok when I make the front page I want the record to show I called you out here. So then he continued on and guess what, the siren was broken. My detectors were detecting the smoke but using it as a dinner bell had worn out the siren. Got a new one and kept on using it as a dinner bell. But he went on and on about how glad he was that I had called them to check it. I have been known to flood the house a few times by leaving water running. I just like to do many things at one time and there is nothing wrong with being productive and throwing in a little excitement. It is good that I married a saint and I have added a lot of excitement to his life.
